Overview
1MD was engaged to review the current WildKard communication and its existing audience, its sponsorship opportunities. Wildkard is fortunate to have sponsorship relationships with global brands such as Disney. The site demographics being Females 16 – 24, and Males 14 – 22. Our challenge was to develop an engaging site with unique sponsorship opportunities to deliver movies and entertainment to the target demographics.

The Process
Initially we addressed the Wilkdkard brand identity. We refreshed the logo, giving it a youthful edge with a revised colour palette, to appeal to the target demographic.
In addition to the logo itself, we addressed the supporting brand characters – Alexis & Jo Jo. Originally illustrated with texter, the original illustrations were cleaned up and redrawn to appear more ‘modern’. We also changed their hair styles and cloths to meet current trends.
The next phase of the project was the Wildkard site. The new site needed to present a sponsor brand campaign whilst maintaining a Wildkard brand approach. The user experience needed to be highly intuitive, seamless and most of all fun. Based on this we decided to build the frontend as Flash and use a liquid design approach, supported by exported xhtml pages.
The promotional section of the site was built using templates to allow users, and prospective members and advertisers to navigate to previous monthly campaigns/promotions.
We also recommended creating a facebook profile to establish a social media channel. This would enable facebook members to access Wildkard content using facebook and keep up to date with Wildkard offers.
The Technology
The Wildkard site backend was built using Python. The platform exports XML to define the content layout, which is uploaded by the frontend Flash. Campaign emails to the existing database is generated via the platform, enabling the client to send, manage, and track emails.
The Result
The Wildkard redevelopment project was successful, resulting in increased site traffic and database generation. The Wildkard database is currently at 25,000 members.
